A home is more than four walls and a roof. It is a place of comfort and security, a gathering place for friends, and a sanctuary for your family. When we decided to build our forever home back in 2020, during the Covid outbreak, we wanted to build a home that was not only special to us and inviting to our friends and family but would be as close to "Zero Energy" as we could get. Little did we know it would take a few years, due to Covid delays amongst others, but that we would eventually get there and accomplish that goal. Ion Solar Professionals was the company that helped get us past that final step to getting to Zero Energy.
Buildings alone are responsible for 40% of the total energy used in the United States. Zero energy homes are one of the cornerstones of a reduced carbon future that is not reliant on fossil fuels. With a zero energy home, you control where your home’s energy comes from with every flip of the light switch, every day. We built our home to be "Zero Energy Ready" meaning it was built to the same high standards as zero energy homes. The only difference is that zero energy ready homes are designed and wired for solar panels that have not yet been installed, making them even more affordable, and allowing them to become zero energy homes when you are ready.
This past year after the crazy increase in electric rates and costs, we decided we were ready to take that next step. We were going to add solar to eliminate the cost of electricity. We searched around and got a few quotes from multiple solar companies. At the end of the day we knew we wanted a premium panel and premium solution and ISP was the company we chose to give us that. They provided a lot more flexibility on what panels we could install and with what micro-inverters. Most of the competition only offered specific panels and inverters but ISP gave us a choice which we loved. They were extremely easy to work with, were very knowledgeable and got the job done quickly and effortlessly. They also offered Pearl Certification as part of the install package which was a plus for us.
So far the system has been great. While it has only been active for 13 days, we have already netted well over 400 kwh! We totally expect our monthly heating/cooling bill to be $0 for the remainder of our time here. We only expect a small gas bill of around $30 a month for cooking! It took us three years from dream to accomplishment but we have finally gotten to the point where we can have a near zero bill for the rest of our time in our new home. We can't say thank you enough to ISP for helping us with that last hurdle and designing a solar system that eliminated our current electric bill and left us room for growth in the future!
